Nonsense storytelling: My seventeen-year-old cousin, Emily, brought home the wrong bag from the annual bake sale at the local hippie commune. It was a simple mistake. Unfortunately, for me though, it became a very big one.
Within this “wrong” brown bag was someone else’s order (all the baked goods sold are in brown bags). This bag contained brownies made with marijuana and topped with homemade Blue Honey.
For your edification, dear reader, Homemade Blue Honey (it’s not actually blue though) is honey in a jar containing chunks of “magic mushroom” (Psilocybe cubensis – a hallucinogenic). It is then covered. After three months the infusion is ready to ingest. I thought I was going to enjoy a honey-coated brownie. I took one to begin eating and wrapped up a second to take with me on my bike outing in the country. This ride became so strange and curious that the voyage my mind became absorbed with, has now become this book.
That day, as I skipped out through the back door of our shared summer rental house, I took my first bite. Within minutes I began noticing that this beautiful summer day became even more beautiful and more vibrant. Alive with the buzz of sparkly energy and life!
I got on my bike. I took another bite. And another. I finished one entire brownie. It was then that I began to realize what the locals meant when they’re always saying how “this is God’s country”.
I thought I heard choirs of angels in the distance as I began to agree with their sentiment. But, nah, not.
Well before we begin, just a few more details. You see my family is sharing this rental house with Emily’s family (she is not only my cousin but my best friend; we have a great admiration for each other. I call her Millie. I recently graduated from high school and was anticipating a restful and lovely summer vacation.
