Stormy Study Session
You're cramming before finals. The air is filled with big raindrops and a cold breeze. Somebody has started a fire in the fireplace to combat the cold feeling of stone floors and big windows.
Your peers hold a quiet conversation to your left, A large window to your right, against which large raindrops fall.
The quiet turning of pages as another student scrawls notes fades through your awareness. What are they studying, you wonder. Are they also far away from home, in the library of an old building with more books than you've ever seen? Are they also wondering about their family, back home? None of it matters, really. Time will eventually reduce everyone and everything here to dust. You will be dead in under a century. History may vaguely remember you at best. The planet will live on without this place. She cares not for the histories of men.
But hey, let's sit and watch the rain for now.
