Southern Country Summer Night
It's late July, almost August, the sun's startin' to go down on a perfect day. The whole family is together for the first time in 3 years, for a wedding, of all things back in the parents country home. Parents, siblings, cousins, all the kids... everyone together and by some stroke of luck, getting along. It feels like some magical happy quiet has fallen.
It's the middle of nowhere and a 15-minute drive to the nearest gas station and 45 to the nearest town and all the cares and troubles that weigh ya down are even further. The wedding and reception are over and it's the perfect time to light up a bonfire. Someone picks up the old guitar and starts quietly pluckin' away. Wrapped up in the softest blanket in the house ya curl up on a chair by the fire and just exist at this moment. The air smells like fresh rain, burnin' wood, and roasted marshmallows. For this one blissful moment, all right with the world. Everything is perfect.
