Leaving Past In Sunset Drive
As a child, you'd sit at the back. It was one of your favourite places to sleep. The citrus-scented air conditioning indolent of wax, the soft smell of leather, a sheen of metal outdoors as it rains which leaves sweeping disco balls of light passing quickly. The CD Player glows bright but suffuses against the air conditioned ambience, which leaves a delicate hazed glow, its screen fading into different colors like a rainbow. The cold, but snug breathy ambience lets you rest soundly, diverting you from unnecessary whispers at the front. You won't need that for now.
And now you have that same car, now grown for the real world. You eat one last meal, take-out, and hug your parents as they're ready to relax with themselves having raised you into the person you are today. You feel a pang of bittersweet reminscence, but you can't wait to see the look on their face when you get to your new apartment and move in with your secret loved one. Dream on.
