Home from Home
A quiet day, but then they always are. The gentle swelling of waves breaching against the eastern point, past the ruins out towards the sound. A crowd murmured in the street, merging with the gentle knocking of buoys against the quay, specs of colour in an overcast scene. Somewhere gulls wheeled overhead, buffered gently by offshore gusts. The insistent patter of rain against the window ledge was punctuated by the wall clock, marking away each hour spent watching the world go by, instead of giving the work at hand the utmost attention. Strangely however, that seemed to be no problem for the moment.
