All aboard the pirate ship....
The year is 1718. You are onboard a pirate ship bound for lawless Nassau after having boarded, plundered, and abandoned a schooner off the coast of the Carolina colonies, where you will unload the barrels of molasses and spices you relieved from the vessel. It's nearly midnight, you have hit stormy weather, and you are hiding out in the galley where the cook and ship's boy are cleaning up the mess of the day, writing in your journal by candlelight in case your ship never makes it to the island.
